1987 DeVille. This is electrial part, between the fan control relay
and the fan control module (Red 14G wire in/out). The schematic shows
it to be a solenoid, but I don't have a clue to it's function. I've
been chasing a telltale-light problem for a long time: "Coolant Temp/
Fan" telltale light will illuminate immediately after turning the AC
system On. Once the car reaches about 40mph the light goes
Off.....each/every time. Same happens in slow traffic/idle/etc.
40mph is the key apparently, so I don't understand if it is a air-flow
problem, or this 'fan control fillter assembly' unit is the cause.
Telltale does not come On in Econ mode...ever. I've chased the down
grounds and done the diagnostic tree procedures and all is correct.
If anyone knows anything about this FCFA, I'd sure appreciate knowing
what it does. Nothing at all about it in the SM and the ACDelco guys
don't have in in their books. The number on the unit is: X1631939.
Plugging that number in gives no response. I'm stumped. Thanks for
any 'light' anyone can shine on this FCFA.
