I bought this car 3 years ago, about 2 months ago engin light came on and
dealer told me it is a transmission problem. 10 Days ago transmission
start to slip when doing over 60 mph. the car has about 110,000 Miles on
it.

Took it to AAMCO and they gave and estimate of $1,500 to fix the problem
and if a few parts are needed will be extra!!! after a few days they
called me that $1,500 was "Estimate Fee" only! and I have a few options:
replace the transmission with life time warranty about $4,700, or have
have a used transmission $3,500. I could not pick up the car as they have
tottally dismantled the car.

Is this normal practice?
The car value does not warrant spending so much on it?
Can anyone advise as what options I have?

Thanks

Call the local Cad dealer and ask them the cost of replacing the trany.
If the dealer is of less cost tell AAMCO to put it back together and have it
towed to the dealer.
Have a lawyer review the estimate papers to see if the $1500 is binding.

The car told you it was sick. The dealer told what was sick and instead
of getting it fixed, you continue to drive it? Not too smart! Did you
believe it would heal itself?

It is a 6yr old Cadillac with low miles on it. This machine has plenty
of life left in it if it is properly maintained. Transmission shops
have built their business on folks who don't pay attention to their
vehicle. You know your options.

Well, I was stupid enough to listen to someone like Dave S(Texas). Changed
the transmission (over $4,000), Now had a call from the dealer that the
problem was Catalic Convertor (another $1,500)this car in good shape worth
$8,000). Never listen to the dealer. Should have driven it until it stop
then dump it, or just trade it In.

Regards.
