I have a 1996 Cadillac DeVille, 4.6 engine My heater/ac blower motor will
only run for a few minutes and then shut off, start up again by it's self
and then shut off again, it does this constantly. I replaced the motor
($260.00) and it ran fine for about a week and it started doing the same
thing the old one was diong, I also notice that the wireing to plug that
plug into the motor seem to be getting hot, I do know if it's from the
heat off the engine or from the fan motor it self. Does the motor carry a
relay,if so where is it located. Can any one help me with this problem?
Thanks,
bobbyric

the blower motor does not have a relay. it hase a fuse. Did you inspect the
"pigtail" that plugs into the blower motor. It may have high resistance and
cause your motor to shut down. unplug the electrical connection. send power
directly to the blower motor it should come on....means the blower is still
working. next check voltage at the pigtail. What is it? get back to me.

mac1833, Sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I've kind of ill,
the suggestion you made didn't seem to be the problem. The voltage were all
fine, and the motor will not run by connecting it stright to the battery,
the plug in has three(3) wires connected to it and I understand that the
center wire is a control voltage connection.Does this motor have a control
module for the heater ac motor, if so where would it be located? By the way
the wires connections to the motor gets extremely hot when ever he motor
does run.
I want to thank you for the information.
