I own a 1991 Cadillac Deville with a 100 thousand miles. It has been
maintained well including oil changes every 3000 miles. Two weeks
before Christmas I was pulling out of a mall when it started to choke
and buck and it tried to stall out. It finally caught and I struggled
to get it home. I took it to a local garage but they couldn't fix it,
so I ended up getting it to a Cadillac garage. After 4 trips to the
garage, and 3 tow jobs, I am still having problems. On cold days -
around 10' sometimes it will not start, some times it will. I had it
towed Friday (temp10') to the garage because it would not start.
Monday at 3pm when I got to the garage they had not touched the car
but I tried to start it and it started on the 1st crank. - the temp
was up around 35'. This has happened a number of times since
December. The other problem I am having is when it does start, I have
to let it run for 10 minutes or so before I pull out. If I don't it
will try to choke out and sometimes stall out. When this is happening
I press on the gas but the engine will not even rev. It seems like it
makes it's own decision when it wants to catch. After car has been
running for a while all the problems go away. My check engine light
does not come on and my battery is almost new and was checked and is
good. The garage is running out of things to replace. I live in a
small town when I leave town I have to go up a steep hill. If I
haven't gotten it hot enough it will sometimes struggle to get to the
top once I get to the top it will run fine.
Any suggestions?

List of things replaced:
Battery
Plugs
Fuel Filter
Starter
Ignition Module
Fuel Injection & Induction Service
Transmission Modulator
Complete Exhaust System Including Catalytic Converter
Cam Sensor
I believe the computer was replaced as well.

Was the computer replaced or not? If it was, was the PROM from the
replaced computer used?

Were there any trouble codes when this problem first began?

Has the cooling system been maintained according to the maintenance
schedule?

I'd suggest a compression test or air-leak test be done. Among the list
of things already replaced I don't see plug wires/battery cables. If
the plug wires are the originals......long time/miles on them. Cold
weather will bring out a lot of electrical problems.

Hope this is of some use.....

Hullo, was the FUEL PUMP replaced ?

I suffered TWO winters in Missouri , because
my fuel pump would only work if the temp was 50ยบ
or higher , I replaced everything ! even the engine ,
Before it was discovered the fuel pump was the problem !!!!!!

check it out !
