Reference: 99 DeVille with automatic transmission shift lever located on
the steering column.
The transmission shift lever on my car has gotten increasingly hard to move
. I removed the shift cable at the point where it attaches to the
transmission shift post to determine whether the binding was in the
transmission or in the shift linkage between the steering column and the
transmission. With the cable removed from the transmission, movement of the
gear shift lever on the steering wheel column remained very difficult. I
did not remove the cable at the point where it attaches to the shift lever
on the steering wheel column.
Is this a common problem with this model vehicle?
Any suggestions you can provide on the cause and corrective action will be
greatly appreciated.
